Personal Statement
With extensive experience in architecture, interior design, and visual arts, I founded Sona Gevorkyan Architecture Office (SGAO) to create innovative, dynamic spaces that blend creativity, technology, and cultural inspiration. My practice specializes in residential, hospitality, and commercial projects, constantly pushing the boundaries of traditional architecture by integrating interdisciplinary influences—fashion, art, digital tools, material explorations and graphic design.
My design approach is rooted in cultural traditions, visual storytelling, and a deep understanding of how architecture can shape and reflect identity, influence experiences and offer optimism. Drawing from my international background, I aim to create spaces that resonate on both personal and cultural levels, from high-end residential interiors to unique hospitality environments.
In addition to my architectural practice, I teach architecture and digital design—roles that keep me engaged with cutting-edge ideas and emerging technologies. Teaching allows me to explore innovative concepts alongside my students, helping me stay at the forefront of new design breakthroughs and continuously challenge and evolve my work.
Whether it’s designing a home, a boutique hotel, or a commercial retail space, my focus is always on balancing form and function to create environments that are both practical and visually compelling. My design process is hands-on and collaborative, working closely with clients to bring their vision to life in ways that exceed expectations.
I'm particularly interested in applying new technologies like digital fabrication, AI, and 3D modeling to architecture, constantly experimenting to reimagine the possibilities of space, design, and interaction.
Let’s connect if you’re interested in architecture, interior design, cultural storytelling, or exploring new ways to bring innovative spaces to life!
